I forgot my password - what do I do?

Simply click the ‘Retrieve password’ link, you will be prompted to enter your email address and a link will be sent to you to reset your password.

Set up

How do I change thumbnail size?

You can change thumbnail size and the number of images viewed at once using the buttons on the top right hand of the thumbnail screen.

Searching

How do I perform a simple search?

Type in the search box on the home page or click ‘Search’ on the menu bar at the top left and select an option from the dropdown menu. 'Find Images' will take you to a simple image search. Use filters to narrow your search eg. The Category filter for 'Field Coverage' or 'Meetings and Events' is especially useful.

How do I perform an advanced search?

Select ‘Advanced search’ from the Search dropdown, then fill out details of your requirements. Note that you can also perform a keyword Boolean search (selecting and/or).

I can’t find what I’m looking for - how do I raise a search request?

Go to ‘My account’ on the menu bar. Select ‘Search requests’ from the drop- down menu where you can post a new request. The photo library team will get back to you and send you a lightbox via an email notification.

Filters

What is the difference between ‘Field Coverage' and ‘Meetings and Events’?

‘Meetings and Events’ are exactly that, while the ‘In the Field’ filter shows images of projects, field work, initiatives and topics. Using these filters will allow you to find the type of image you want.

What is AGRIS? What is it for?

AGRIS Categories are useful categories from an international standard used by FAO. These categories will be added to new material, but legacy material will not initially be found under these categories.

Lightbox

How do I save a lightbox?

Create and save a new lightbox by clicking ‘Lightbox’ on the menu bar at the top of the page. Click ‘New’ on the top left side of the page. Choose a name for the new lightbox and then click ‘Save’ just below the field. Please note that you need to click on/open it before filling it with new images. Go to search in the usual way and you will find the opened lightbox at the bottom of the page. pages on the Home page

How do I add images to a lightbox?

Click the ‘pin’ symbol underneath image thumbnails when browsing, or at the top of the image when viewing an individual image. If the Lightbox isn't visible click on 'Lightbox' on the menu under the thumbnails at the bottom of the page to unhide it.

Ordering/downloading

How do I download?

You must place an order to download photos. Click the ‘add to order’ button (the cart symbol) beneath each thumbnail in the Lightbox or search results. In the Lightbox view you can click ADD TO ORDER to place all images in the lightbox in the order.

You can continue to browse, or ‘proceed with order’. In the ‘Order’ section you must specify your image usage: Description, Usage, Publication Name. You can copy the details from one image to all the files. You will receive an email when we have authorised your order with a link to download the images.

How do I download different sizes?

When you have been granted download permission, you can choose between high- or low-resolution sizes to download.

Sharing

How do I email my lightbox? (Read only)

Go to the lightbox area by clicking ‘Lightbox’ on the top menu bar. Select the lightbox you want to share by clicking on it, then select ‘open’. Click the ‘email’ button above the thumbnail window and enter the details.

How do I share my lightbox (for editing)?

Open your chosen lightbox and click ‘collaborate’ on the left-hand menu. Select ‘properties’, a pop-up window will appear where you can enter the collaborator’s information. You can select what permissions they are allowed to have: editing, making notes, marking favourites, inviting others. If they are not already a user on the website you need to click ‘create new user account’ and fill out the form on their behalf.
