02 March 2017, Kazakhstan - Milk procurement managers attend a training session in Kazakhstan on how to use a smart photo mobile phone application developed by FAO, with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The app, known as Collect Mobili, has been designed and adapted to the dairy industry and helps milk procurement managers to geo-locate current and potential raw milk suppliers, most of whom are smallholder or family farmers. Once downloaded to an Android smartphone or tablet, a customized version of the Collect Mobile app can be used by dairy companies to map milk procurement routes, monitor and score the performance of their milk suppliers, and pinpoint trouble spots hindering milk quality and yields.
