02 November 2016, Manzini, Swaziland - A maize crop grows in a litchi trees orchard established as model traditional homes with a mixed agricultural program of a mini orchard and a vegetable garden at Mr Ndabenhle Simelani's homestead in Manzini, Swaziland. Swaziland Ministry of Agriculture is pursuing a robust horticulture programme and intends to develop an organized aggregated and integrated national program which spells out suitable agro ecological zones for farmers to produce fruits and vegetables in Swaziland. The Swaziland National Agricultural Marketing Board is mandated with the identification and facilitation of access to market opportunities for smallholder producers and facilitation of linkages with buyers. This is aimed at attaining food security, nutritional status, and poverty reduction through improved farming methods for enhanced income generating opportunities for 100 households in the four regions of Swaziland by 2019.
