05 June 2018, South Sudan - Portrait of a student taking part in a Junior Farmer Field School project to teach children valuable farming skills. Farming schools teach students how to plant, grow, diversify and protect crops and vegetables. And with regular students, dropped out children as well as former child soldiers participating in the programme, the initiative has proven to not only teach practical skills, but to also integrate those who have left the armed forces. There currently are 25 FAO-supported Junior Farming Field Schools in South Sudan, with more than 750 members.
