14 February 2017, Al Hudaydah, Yemen - A remote smallholding in Al Hudaydah, which was considered an important food-producing governorate. However, because of intense violence along the Red Sea coast in the past two years, Al Hudaydah is now at risk of slipping into famine conditions if urgent life and livelihood-saving assistance is not delivered. With EU funding, FAO is helping small-scale farmers build more resilient livelihoods.
FAO project OSRO/YEM/504/EC: Enhanced Rural Resilience in Yemen. It is funded by the EC and its overall objective is to enhance the resilience and self-reliance of crisis-affected rural communities through support to livelihoods stabilization and recovery, local governance and improved access to sustainable energy.
