CFS 37 Side Event Africa Region Group: A dialogue between African governments and African family farmers, FAO headquarters (Iran Room). Food insecurity in Africa is a legacy of policies that have reduced public support to agriculture and investments oriented towards export crops while opening markets to competition from food products from abroad. The food crisis is a wake-up call. This event will contribute to policy dialogue on food security and investment in agriculture by highlighting concerns and proposals advanced by the major actors of African food security: its governments and its smallholder food producers.
