FAO project: OSRO/GLO/020/RUS ?Response to mitigate impact of Desert Locust on food security and livelihoods in Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Uganda.
Caption
6 July 2021, Uran Ward, Moyale, Marsabit County, Kenya - Amina Guyo cooks a stew made of cowpeas and cowpeas leaves while preparing the main meal of the day at her house in Uran ward, Moyale, Kenya on July 6, 2021.
Amina is one of the beneficiaries under the Desert Locust post recovery project from Uran Location, Uran ward in Moyale sub-county. She depends on agro-pastoralism and sale of khat to support her household of six. After the locust decimated her crop, she relied on sale of khat as her only source of livelihood until she got enlisted as a beneficiary in the Desert Locust post recovery project. FAO through CARITAS, a service provider, issued her with 4kgs cow peas seeds M66 a dual-purpose variety grown for both leaves and grain.
