Caption
7 July 2021, Golbo Ward, Moyale, Marsabit County, Kenya - Hassan Bonaya feeds his goats with silage at his piece of land next to his house in Golbo ward, Moyale, Kenya on July 7, 2021.
Hassan is an Agro pastoralist, he rears cows, goats, and sheep. Hassan is among the beneficiaries under Cash for work (CFW) project and DL post recovery project sponsored by FAO in Dirdima location, Golbo ward of Moyale sub-county. The CFW project gist was rangeland rehabilitation to rid it of the invasive acacia species that prevented grass from growing while post recovery intervention project layered on the CFW to target beneficiaries with white on black silage bags.
The CFW project was successful and coupled with reliable rainfall pasture growth was triggered. Hassan saw an opportunity to utilize his skills on the use of silage bag that he acquired during FAO training. He currently harvests the grass for silage making after clearing of the invasive acacia species which initially inhibited regeneration of grass.
