This project aims at increasing the income, over a period of 10 years, of some 4 000 families belonging to 30 existing or planned peasant associations. The main emphasis is to improve the health and productivity of milk-producing animals and strengthen local associations. Technologies and techniques in improved dairy farming have been introduced. Courses were offered in milking, pasturing, milk hygiene, herd management, animal nutrition and marketing. Particular attention has been given to women who make up half the beneficiaries of training courses in the farmers? associations and who actively participate in the meetings.
