The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is engaged in the establishment of a national post-harvest centre which will assume full responsibility for technical assistance to the post-harvest sector of agricultural production and provide technical advice to the parastatal sectors and food aid organizations. It will advise and assist the government in policy formulation and planning of national action programmes to reduce and prevent post-harvest food losses.
