FAO is assisting the Thai Government through the Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) with a one-year, $147,000 project for the establishment of a crop and water management demonstration and training centre at Boromdhat, about 200 km. north of Bangkok. The TCP contribution covers the services of a water management expert for 12 months, field equipment for demonstration and training and a limited amount of supplies. The project's aim is to demonstrate to farmers improved cultivation techniques with special emphasis on water management and control practices in order to obtain the optimum use of the available irrigation water at farm level.
