Kyrgyzstan, Jelal-Abad region. A FAO field school. The lecturer, a FAO specialist is teaching the farmers new methods of agriculture. Farmers, government officials and water engineers have benefited from the FAO project Modernization of small-scale irrigated agriculture to enhance and diversify rural livelihoods. They received training in improved farming methods and especially how to manage irrigation water correctly. Crop productivity has increased thanks to the project, which was funded by Austria and the World Bank.
