The Anand Milk Union is a dynamic cooperative that has brought higher incomes, dignity and meaning into the daily lives of thousands of Indian villagers. From very modest beginnings, the cooperative now has a membership of 100,000 small farmers in 500 villages of the 2,600 square-mile Kaira district. It keeps half of teeming Bombay supplied with fresh milk and markets many high quality milk products such as condensed milk, baby food, butter and ghee throughout India.
