Portrait of a child in Kaya. - - Operation and Maintenance of Village Mills. This project, carried out under FAO's Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP), aims at training millers, mechanics and personnel responsible for the good management and maintenance of mechanised flour mills being introduced into villages as part of a government programme for the modernisation of food production. The project focuses particularly on the role of women-who have traditionally carried out the laborious task of grinding cereals by hand. They are now being involved in the management and operation of the new village mills.
