In view of ensuring the optimum use of deteriorated tropical land with the local name of "Savokas", and to obtain a source of income for the inhabitants, this UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) project aims to establish the basis for integrated rural development. New tree species will be classified, selected and cultivated and the project will organize a series of demonstrations in selected villages in order to test and disseminate new techniques. Finally, the project will train extension personnel and farmers in the most suitable new techniques for agro-forestry in the Savoka region.
