SAND DUNE FIXATION, Senegal, 1985 - Sand dune (foreground) which has been stabilized, is now protecting an agricultural area that was previously threatened. The aim of this FAO project is to assist the government in carrying out sand dune fixation measures through afforestation, to promote rural development through fuelwood and fodder plantation for local community development activities and to reclaim land for agriculture in the Sol-Dior area.
