SAND DUNE FIXATION, Senegal, 1985 - Vegetable gardens in an area previously threatened by advancing dunes (background) and now protected with trees. The aim of this FAO project is to assist the government in carrying out sand dune fixation measures through afforestation, to promote rural development through fuelwood and fodder plantation for local community development activities and to reclaim land for agriculture in the Sol-Dior area.
