View of a village where Hutu refugee are hosted on their return from Tanzania, where they went to escape the internal crisis in Burundi. This is not the traditional way of living in Burundi where people prefer to build their houses scattered on the hills. After the recent civil strife, traditions changed and, for security reasons, people prefer to live in a village rather than be isolated. Both the returnees and the army want to build camps to accommodate families. This will eventually affect land ownership and change the way the land is cultivated as the rural population has to travel further outside villages to reach cultivated plots of land. - - FAO?s Special Relief Operations Service: TCOR Project.
