This project is financed by UNDP and executed by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization with the Government of Malawi. The programme is designed to help the Government to improve management of natural resources by smallholders in a participatory way which increases productivity and income generation in an environmentally sound manner. There are two sub-components: Community Forestry and Wildlife Utilization. The community forestry activities are expanding the efforts of a recently completed GOM/UNDP/FAO project which introduced a variety of methods for involving villagers, particularly women and children in producing and managing fuelwood and other forestry products for village development.
