The combined effects of crop and pasture losses caused by desert locust, COVID-19 related mitigation measures, and consecutive below-average rainy seasons have placed communities in the arid and semi-arid lands of Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia at risk of severe food insecurity and loss of livelihood.
Background information
With support from the Federal Government of Germany and other resource partners, FAO's is mitigating the impact of these stressors with a combined package of crop production re-engagement, treatment and vaccination of livestock against common trans-boundary diseases, diversification package for forage production, and unconditional cash transfers.
