10 November 2020, Garowe Airport, Puntland State, Somalia - Muxudiin, from the Ministry of Environment, uses his mobile phone to enter coordinates on eLocust3 app while tracing hopper bands of locusts in a remote area at the outskirts of Garowe. FAO in Somalia is continuously finding innovative ways to respond to and mitigate the desert locust crisis. The eLocust3 app which can be connected to mobile phones to trace and track hopper bands of locusts has helped pave the way for technology to contribute to emergency efforts.
