11 December 2017, Rome Italy - Riccardo Valentini, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Al Gore Nobel Prize 2007. Collaboration FAO Carabinieri in the framework of the signed MoU - Training on climate change and illegal logging, 11-15 December 2017.
Recently FAO and Carabinieri signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will stand for the next three years. The MoU is the result of more than a year collaboration and exchange of meetings between Carabinieri Forestali and FAO, which have led to joint collaboration in the relevant and common fields of activities. Those include achieving food security through environmental protection and management and planning of critical events due to climate change.
As a first step, and after the signature of the above-mentioned MoU, FAO and Carabinieri Forestali committed to organize a one-week common event based on the exchange of training to be held before the end of 2017. The training will cover the areas of illegal logging and the importance to prevent it and use of sustainable wood housing and buildings to tackle climate change. The event should be jointly organized by FAO and Carabinieri preferably at Carabinieri premises, in order to benefit from their logistic and facilities.
