11 October 2011, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia - A view of the ger district in the Mongolian capital. The ger district is a shantytown where most inhabitants live in gers, traditional Mongolian tents (also known as yurts) or in poorly built homes without running water, sanitation or basic infrustructure. The result is people rely on wood or coal burning stoves for cooking and heating and a toxic smog pollutes the air.
