14 November 2013, Rome, Italy - ICN2 Side Event in collaboration with Women in Diplomacy: "Women and Nutrition: ideas for a sustainable future". A line-up of prominent leading women in the international community visited FAO today to participate in an event organised by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the 2015 Milan EXPO called, "Women and Nutrition: Ideas for a Sustainable Future". Honoured guests and panelists included: Marta Dassù, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Italy; Vandana Shiva, Environmental Activist and Author, India; Catherine Geslain-Lanéelle, Director General for Agriculture, Agri-Food and Territorial Policies French Ministry of Agriculture, France; Hanna Tetteh, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ghana; Louise Fréchette, Diplomat and Chair of the Board of CARE Canada; Maurizia Iachino, President Oxfam Italia; Maria da Luz Guebuza, First Lady of the Republic of Mozambique; and Emma Bonino, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Italy. Today's event was a meeting of minds on the importance of nutrition in the diets of women in developing countries and the implications of neglecting this issue.
