15 June 2017 Maiduguri, Nigeria - 9. IDPs, returnees and host families receiving FAO seeds and fertilizers in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. To respond to the current food and livelihoods crisis in northeast Nigeria, FAO is implementing an extensive programme targeting 141 000 households - including women-headed households, equivalent to 1 128 000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), returnees and host communities, through the provision of quality agriculture inputs, to take full advantage of the 2017 planting season.
FAO's assistance is reaching vulnerable farmers in 46 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states with the distribution of 2 070 tons of cowpea, maize, millet, sorghum and vegetable seeds and 3 525 tons of fertilizers.
