17 May 2016, Makangue, Central African Republic - Nicolas Wafirmin fled his home with his 8 children, wife and his wife's mother when violence broke out in CAR. He left behind his plots of land there, and has managed to secure a plot of land to farm for the 2016 crop, where he will plant seeds provided by WFP and FAO. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Food Programme (WFP) have begun providing seeds, hand tools and food to nearly 50,000 hungry farming families for this planting season in the most food-insecure areas of the Central African Republic (C.A.R.). It coincides with the height of the lean season when household food stocks are typically lowest.
