19 November 2005, Rome - FAO Director-General Jacques Diouf presenting the B.R. Sen Award to FAO field officer Patrick Evans (forestry) at FAO Headquarter. Mr. Evans received the award in recognition of his role in implementing an 8-year FAO project to improve the management of forestry and fishery resources on Cambodia's Tonle Sap lake. The project trained lake communities so in how to responsibly manage the local fishery and forest resources upon which they depend. Community-based organizations were established in 116 villages around the lake, which are today actively managing 108 000 hectares of land.
