27 June 2016, Rome, Italy - General views of the Finnish Room, (FAO Headquarters).The Finnish Forestry meeting room, presents modern and innovative wood craftsmanship and it is an example of the elaborate and inventive use of northern hardwood birch. The entire interior is made of birch in different forms: sliced, turned, veneer and curly. The cabinets that surround the walls create a lively surface with their veneer stripes and doors opening in unexpected ways. The extra-large table is made of aircraft plywood. One of the wall consists of spatial elements made of plywood stripes less than a millimetre thick: they serve as curtains and provide an acoustic surface. Sustainable thinking and creative work inspired the design of this meeting room that reflects contemporary Finland. Serene and functional, it combines traditional materials with high technology and competence.
