28 May 2013, Siaya District, Kenya - Martin Owino digs a hole two feet down to plant a banana sucker in using conservation agriculture technique to faciltate water retention. This new way of planting mixed with terracing allows farmers to save excess rain water that would otherwise wash away top soil and flood the entire area. Owino switched to farming bananas after a KARI representative encouraged him when his tomato crop failed due to climate change.
