28 May 2013, Siaya District, Kenya - Martin Owino removes a new banana sucker for planting, using conservation agriculture technique to faciltate water retention. This new way of planting mixed with terracing allows farmers to save excess rain water that would otherwise wash away top soil and flood the entire area. Owino switched to farming bananas after a KARI representative encouraged him when his tomato crop failed due to climate change.
