31 December 2021, Lipari, Italy - Donkeys are seen while eating hay inside a farm in Lipari, in the Aeolian Islands, north of Sicily. Although in Italy donkeys are no longer used massively in agriculture, their manure is used as a natural fertilizer for organic crops. Donkey manure has a slow release of nitrogen and is therefore particularly suitable for some slow crops such as potatoes.
