31 October 2013, KIROKA, TANZANIA - Tausi Ramadhani cooks using a traditional three stone stove, which uses large amounts of firewood. More energy efficient stoves, which require less firewood, are part of a FAO project to strengthen capacity of farms for climate change in Kiroka, Tanzania. "It's something we may call climate-smart agriculture," says mission project co-ordinator Prof. Henry Mahoo, who teaches at the Sokoine University of Agriculture. The project aims to improve land and water management, promote climate resilient agriculture and encourage dialogue and understanding regarding climate change adaptation practices.
