A worker at the Nepal Vegetable Development Division outside Kathmandu examines new, bigger varieties of white and red radishes grown on the Division's demonstration plots. - - Vegetable and Seed Programme. The UN Food and Agriculture Organization is helping the Nepal Government Vegetable Development Division to promote the National Vegetable Seed Production Programme, by way of introducing activities to produce improved varieties of high quality vegetable seed for distribution to local farmers to improve their crop income. Vegetable crops provide an additional source of food and are an improvement to the traditional Nepalese diet. The FAO project, financed by the Government of Switzerland, is also helping the Nepalese Government and private seed industries to open up new and improved export marketing schemes.
