Greece, September 1964. A forest survey covering some 12,000 square kilometres of north-central Greece is being carried out by a joint FAO-Greek Government team under a U.N. Special Fund project. The project is assessing the present extent of the forests and is helping the country to ready its resources and trained manpower for their eventual expansion and development to supply new forest industries. One of the Greek foresters measures tree spacing and timber density in a sample forest plot.
