Improved stove. - - Integrated agro-silvo-pastoral project for the development of four villages.: SEN/87/027. This project centres on an integrated development programme to improve local living conditions by protecting and developing natural resouces and by promoting food and energy self-sufficiency in 7 pilot villages. The main activity in Kayar, at the coast ca. 60 km north of Dakar, is fishing and fish processing. The project serves to improve the operational and organizational techniques of several groups in the village: the cooperatives of women in horticulture, transformation of fish and horticultural products, and trade, the cooperatives of men in horticulture and cooperatives of the youth for making compost. Thanks to the project, Kayar has managed to create a production cycle: fish by-products and village waste are composted and used as fertilizer in horticulture which, in turn, supplies a horticultural processing plant (jams, juices and dried vegetables).(18766-18778).
