Taunggyi, October 1951 - Dr. Hla Kyaw, Principal Veterinary Officer of Southern Shan States Government, inoculating a bull during trials of vaccine organized by Dr. Ian W. Kelton, FAO Veterinarian. Two veterinarians were sent to Burma in 1951 to work with the local authorities on a large-scale animal diseases' eradication programme. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is providing veterinarians to various countries to assist them in preventing the losses caused by animal diseases and in increasing animal production.
