Manure that is produced is used as fertilizer for home gardens and as fuel for heating and cooking. - - Group Sheep Fattening (005) and Pig Keeping (006): TFD/98/ARM/005 & 006. Nine farm families, chosen from the most needy in the area, benefited from the TeleFood pig keeping project. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) provided the pigs, animal feed and veterinary services, including vaccines. Help in constructing pig sheds was also given and books and training in pig breeding were supplied.

FAO also provided the initial sheep for the group sheep fattening project and again supplied vaccines and veterinary training. The local farmers' association, supported by the United Nations Development Programme, now continues to provide veterinary services and training to beneficiaries.
