The Liz Christy Bowery-Houston Community Garden works at a time when community gardens are being torn down to make way for buildings. More than 30 volunteers garden here and hundreds of others contribute to this urban community garden. The garden has birch trees, fruit trees, vegetables, herbs, a pond and many flowering perennials. Over USD 140 000 worth of plants and soils are given away each year to public-use green spaces. Individual plots are designed and tended by members and chores are shared. - - General: General.
