The Luderitz Mariculture oyster farm near Luderitz produces 25 000 oysters a week for markets in Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa. The young oysters are kept inside mesh bags, which are lowered into the cold waters of Red Ford Bay to grow. As they get bigger, they are transferred to bags with larger and larger mesh size.
