The nutritional well-being of all household members is one of the project's main goals. The households at high risk are assisted with agricultural inputs, extension services, counselling and training in food budgeting and health education. The Women in Irrigated Agriculture and Related Activities (WIA) project is executed by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), financed by the Netherlands Government and implemented by the Government of Tanzania through the office of the Regional Development Director in the Mbeya Region. Phase II is action-oriented aiming at improving household food security and the nutritional wellbeing of all household members through more specific involvement of women in agricultural development.
