Walk for Development, Parma, Italy, March 1970 - A Walk for Development invites interestedpeople to walk along a route wich may be anything from 20 to 60 kms, having gained "sponsors" who pledge to given them so much money per kilometre covered. Each walker has a form signed by is sponsors and as he walks, his form is punched a check points along the route; thus proving the distance covered. The money collected is devoted to development projects. The Mani Tese, a "movement against hunger and for te development of people from several Italian cities participated. An estimated total amount of 100 million lire was raised. Pictured: Group of walkers carrying placards.
