The greenhouses are used for hydroponic culture. - - Special Programme for Food Security. The Special Programme for Food Security (SPFS) is being implemented in ten counties of China. Fifty farmer households were selected from one village in each project county to participate in the Farming System Diversification Component in 1999. Project activities include raising small livestock, fattening pigs, and rice and vegetable integrated development. Through diversification activities, demonstration households, who have taken initiatives in project activities, have greatly increased their income and improved their living standards.
