Young villagers returning home after a day's work. - - Forestry and Food Security: GCP/INT/539/ITA. The host country of this project is Syria and it aims to strengthen, by appropriate training and demonstration, community forestry development in Jordan, Syria and Turkey. The project assists the rural population in selected areas in improving their economic and social well-bring through their introduction to appropriate income generating forestry and agro-sylvo-pastoral practices, and in providing employment. This project prevents further deterioration of the rural environment, enhances environmental production and natural resources productivity and assists in assuring an improved and sustainable lifestyle to the rural population.
