The Government of Yugoslavia is carrying out a series of investigations on a pilot polder of 3,700 hectares in order to determine the technical and economic feasibility of land reclamation. The project is being assisted by the United Nations Development Programme - Special Fund (UNDP - SF), with the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) as executing agency. An experimental farm and experimental polder have been established in the area for studying water control, soil management, agronomy and variety trials; for testing farming methods and for training local personnel. The 7 1/2 -year project is being financed by $1,266,300 from UNDP-SF and by $6,558,371 from the Yugoslav Government.
